CSR
GMR -Varalakashmi Foundation (GMRVF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of our company, devotes its time, energy and resources on evolving innovative projects that span the areas of Education, Health, Hygiene and Sanitation, Empowerment and Livelihoods and Community welfare programmes. The Company encourages and empowers all team members to contribute their personal time and effort for community development and social causes.

  • Scholarships
    10 full scholarships are given every year in the field of engineering. Students in 2010 scheme were placed in Hyderabad and scholars for 2011 will be also be placed in Hyderabaduniversities.

    Students are selected by the scholarship board of the Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports, according to their criteria.

  • Blood donation
    Blood donation camps to be organized annually. GMR will seek to work with other parties in order to make it more effective.

  • NGO grants
    Grants for NGOs will be given every year for work in the areas of health, education and community development. Organizations seeking grants are expected to fulfill the eligibility criteria. Proposals will be selected by a committee. The guidelines for this are attached.


  • Medical Camp
    A mobile medical camp is to visit selected islands. Proposed services include medical consultations, school/communitieshealth screening as well as public health awareness programs. Areas will be selected in conjunction with Public Health authorities for greater impact.
  • Outer Islands
    Minor projects to be undertaken in selected islands. The focus this year is on school improvement and we hope to work together with the Ministry of Education with the priority areas of consideration.
  • “A Push for development” projects
    As part of its CSR initiative, GMR encourages active employee engagement in projects that are close to their hearts. Funds are allocated for 3 projects this year. Selection of projects will be made by a committee according to the attached criteria.

  • Community Development projects
    GMR proposes to undertake some long-term projects of social development within the community. Working together with the Malé City Council, these projects will enhance the quality of life in the community.
